In fall of 2017, Collington introduced Artist-in-Residence, a collaborative program created between the University of Maryland and Collington. Two graduate students from the University of Maryland School of Music live and work as artists-in-residence at Collington. As part of the program, the students receive room and board at Collington in exchange for performing regularly and organizing additional concerts and educational programs for the senior residents. Now (2020-21) is in its third year, the partnership program has garnered national attention with its recent feature on NBC’s Today Show.

2020-2021 Artists in Residence are Syneva Colle and Tonya Burton. Colle is currently obtaining her doctorate degree in Cello Performance while Burton is earning hers in Viola Performance.

Dylan Rye and Jeanette-Marie Lewis are the 2021–22 artists-in-residence at Collington, through a program which places two SOM graduate students rent-free in the retirement community in exchange for performing and coordinating regular musical and educational programming for the senior residents. Now in its fifth year, the program has garnered national attention.
